Pearson Mathematics Level 3b Stage 6 Teacher's Guide

Pearson Mathematics Level 3 is divided into two books, 3a and 3b. Students working on 3b are expected to be proficient in using basic addition and subtraction facts and place value to solve whole number additionand subtraction problems. They should be able to select an appropriate strategy dependent on the numbers they are working with. This includes mental methods and paper and pencil methods. They should be continuing to develop multiplicative thinking and know the multiplication and division facts up to 10 x 10. Number knowledge is extended further in understanding fractions, including decimal numbers and simple percentages. Geometry and Measurement uses knowledge of fractions and decimals and uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in contexts. Statistics focuses on interpreting data and furthers students' experiences of using multi-variate data. The Teachers' Guide provides the tools to plan a mathematics programme to meet the needs of all students. The book is divided into units of work with curriculum links and learning outcomes for each chapter in a unit. Teacher guidance is provided on how to use the pages in the pupil book. There are assessment tasks and a record sheet for tracking individual students' progress are, as well as answers to all questions. Links to appropriate "Figure it Out" activities for each chapter are also included.
