He began \u003cem\u003eJoseph Andrews\u003c\/em\u003e as a parody of the sentimentalism of Richardson's \u003cem\u003ePamela\u003c\/em\u003e, and quickly developed his humourous and satirical style in \u003cem\u003eTom Jones\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eJonathan Wild\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eAmelia\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003cbr\u003eAdmired by writers and readers alike, Fielding is one of the true founders of the English novel whose influence can be traced into the nineteenth century and the works of Dickens and Thackeray.
